"Sunsuper is one Australia's largest super funds, and we wanted to increase our online performance, results and services for our 1 million members.
We came to Options (now Spark Green) for a total online solution. Our website redesign has given us a fresh, new look with a stronger emphasis on the joining process. In addition to design and copywriting, Spark Green helped us improve our content system, so that we were in control day-to-day and could start delivering new ideas online.
Email is an important communications tool for us and now our campaigns contain useful tools such as calculators and one-click registrations, which have lifted member response. Trustee Elections. Spark Green helped eo increased voter response by 400% with an innovative member email campaign - despite having email addresses for only 25% of members.
"At eo, the Company behind popular super funds, RecruitmentSuper and Accountants Super, we had a challenge on our hands. How to get members interested enough to vote for a Trustee Member Representative to join the Board - hardly high on the average to-do agenda for busy, time-poor members.
In the past, direct mail was the traditional medium, but the high production cost and low response rate meant a rethink was in order for the 2006 elections.
We asked Options (now Spark Green) to create, produce and broadcast an innovative Australia-wide email campaign to members of both funds.
Spark Green recommended taking advantage of "hot spots" and engagement zones to immediately capture attention. The bold headline "Don't forget to have you say about Super" got straight to the point, followed by: it's time to help choose your voice on the board.
The eye was led to supporting female visual with a thumbs up sign that indicated - "hey, this is so easy, you can do it now with just a click." By making the whole idea of voting a quick and instant process more members got involved . Two versions of the email were produced for RecruitmentSuper and Accountants Super so the look and feel was familiar to the members.
The personalised email generated a strong response: eo increased the vote participants by 400%, despite having email addresses for less than half the members.
The reaction and feedback from members email has been very encouraging. Making it easy for members is the real bottom line."
